Employment Rights Act 2025 – Timeline of changes
As government proceeds with the ongoing reforms to employments rights the Payroll Centre has continued to draw attention to some of the consultations that have been published to keep you updated of the progress under the plans to Make Work Pay.
Given the volume of changes being phased in between 2026 to 2027 t the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (DBIST) has confirmed next phase of changes to be implemented from October 2026 and January 2027.
DBIST now confirm the effective date for reforms to Trade Unions, protection from workplace harassment will take effect from 30 October. Tightening of the tipping laws has been pushed back to the end of 2026.
To help you stay on track with the updates a timetable of the changes announced so far is attached for reference, make sure your company policies are updated in line with the changes.
More changes will follow as government implements further reforms to employment rights following a review of the ongoing consultations.
